I admit I was skeptical at first about wearing a wool bra, but I've become a total convert to merino sportswear and can say, hands down, that this bra--and the Ibex Bralette--are the best sports bras I've ever worn. The one thing I should say up front is that the Balance bra is probably better suited to smaller-busted women. Great for A/B cups, and maybe C (for low/moderate impact activities) but I don't think it would be supportive enough for larger cup sizes. But if you are in the smaller range, this bra is an excellent choice for all seasons. I'm a 36 B and find it supportive enough for cycling, the gym, hiking and even running (I wasn't sure if it would be up to more high-impact activities at first but it's been great). I have two of these now, in black and in shell, and have stopped looking for the perfect sports bra because I've found it.This bra is lightweight, soft, and itch-free. It wicks moisture much better than synthetics, becoming wet but not clammy on my skin so I never get chilly in it even during rest periods when exercising in cold weather or windy conditions. It never chafes, and remains comfortable and breathable in the summer, even in high, humid heat. It doesn't hold odors, and it's durable. Washes well and dries quickly (I always hand wash/hang dry). It looks really shapely and attractive on (no uniboob!)and is by far the most comfortable sports bra I've owned. It's also really easy to put on/take off. I did find that it runs small; normally I wear a M in bras but had to exchange for a L because the M was too tight, especially in the shoulders (unlike the Bralette, the straps aren't adjustable on the Sport Bra--it's just a simple Y racerback). The L fits perfectly, and has not stretched out after a year of wearing regularly. The only other issue is that the fabric doesn't always provide enough coverage, particularly under cycling jerseys, so sometimes I slip in some thin foam inserts and that does the trick. So very pleased I found this bra, and really love Ibex garments in general--their stuff is top quality and long-lasting.

I can't rave about this bra enough! I thought I'd wait a couple of month before I reviewed, but after wearing it on a 20 mile bike ride when it was incredibly hot, but also raining, I was still comfortable! In fact, it's the first time I've not be pre-occupied at some point by a sports bra. Even going into somewhere that was blasting air conditioning I wasn't chilled. Pair with a wool jersey and wool cycling shorts, I was perfectly comfortable and didn't even want to change after my ride. It's been washed twice (hand wash cycle in a front load washer, with Dr. Bronners, line dried), once with a light silver wool jersey and there was no color bleeding. The bra looks exactly like it did when it arrived.As far as sizing goes, I did size up after reading all the reviews. I'm a 32/34 band size c/d cup, solid medium in top and went with a large bra. It was easy to get into, but tight enough that it was plenty supportive for cycling. It was quite small looking when I pulled it out of the plastic, so much so I was shocked, but it was fine. easiest over the head sports bra I've ever put on. It is very smooth and soft and just incredibly comfortable. I will and have recommended it to friends.

Based on a previous review I ordered a medium. Was glad I did. I'm 5'1, 105 lbs and have a broad back. I would not have fitted a small. The bra is well made. I wear it in my gym workouts and martial arts classes. Unlike my Patagonis sport bras, it is easy on and off. Tiny bit itchy but not uncomfortably.
